Do you know what Inhotim is? / ¿Sabes que es Inhotim?

Cuando revisamos nuestro plan para evaluar el destino Belo Horizonte, encontramos como lugar de interés: Inhotim. Ambos nos preguntamos ¿qué es estó?, nos miramos desconcertados ninguno de los dos recordaba referencia alguna sobre esta nota. Así que buscamos información y encontramos que este sitio era un Jardín Botánico y un museo de arte contemporáneo, una mezcla interesante y muy atractiva para nosotros.

Revisamos la ruta, el lugar y las posibilidades y encontramos que se ubicaba en Brumadinho, un lugar al sur de Belo Horizonte, a donde era posible llegar directamente desde Ouro Preto sin tener que entrar a la capital y en donde habían algunos sitios recomendados por la fundación para dormir. Sin necesidad de más información cambiamos nuestros planes: Iriamos a Inhotim y no visitaríamos Belo Horizonte, ambos felices con la idea de no tener que entrar a una ciudad de 2 y medio millones de habitantes.

When we reviewed our plan to evaluate what was of interest in Belo Horizonte, we encountered: Inhotim. We asked ourselves “what is this?”, disconcerted, neither of us remembered anything about this, or why we had noted it. So we researched the topic and found that this is a Botanic Garden and Museum of Contemporary Art, a mix both interesting and attractive to us. Reviewing the route, the location, and the options, we found it located near Brumadinho, to the south of Belo Horizonte, where it was possible to travel directly from Ouro Preto without having to enter the state capital, and where various places were recommended to stay nearby. Without further ado we modified our plans: we would go to Inhotim and would not visit Belo Horizonte, both of us happy not to visit this city of 2-1/2 million.

Salimos temprano con el interés de llegar temprano y visitar el lugar. Recorrimos la ruta local hacia la BR116 y una vez allí tuvimos nuestro primer hallazgo de interés: Alphaville, Lagoas Inglesas. Así que en medio del desconcierto paramos allí para nuestro cambio de conductor y una vuelta obligada. Encontramos un mundo parecido al descrito en la película “La mujer Perfecta” solo que esperamos que en este caso no haya reemplazo de las mujeres, sin embargo todo allí parece indicar claramente un estilo sugerido.

We left early with the intention of arriving early and visiting Inhotim. We headed off on the local road towards BR116 and arriving at the junction made our first discovery of the day: Alphaville, English Lakes. Disconcerted, we made a U-turn and stopped there to change drivers and see what Alphaville is. We discovered a world similar to that depicted in the movie “A perfect woman”, however in this case they had not replaced the women, notwithstanding everything appeared to indicate the suggested style.

Continuamos estonces a Brumadinho saliendo de la ruta en Jardín Canada, otro sitio que aunque sus calles usan nombres de diferentes lugares del país, está lejos de parecerse, comenzando por sus 36 grados a la sombra, la vegetación tropical que invade el paisaje y la tierra roja que imprime su huella en todo lo que la toca. Apenas saliendo de Canada, Belo Horizonte apareció a nuestro ojos, una ciudad gigante regada a los pies de la Serra de Rola Moça, que debimos cruzar para llegar a nuestro destino.

We then continued to Brumadinho, leaving the highway at Jardim Canada, a place which, despite its streets being named after Canadian cities, is far from them in reaility: starting with the 36 degrees in the shade, the tropical vegetation on all sides, and the red earth putting its mark on all it touches. After leaving Canada (!) Belo Horizonte appeared before us, a huge city resting at the feet of Serra de Rola Moça, which we crossed on the way to our destination.

Llegamos a Inhotim, gente amable y entorno lindo. Compramos nuestras entradas y dos minutos después comprendimos, al ver el mapa del sitio, que ere inevitable usar dos días para visitar el lugar. Así que comenzamos con gusto nuestro camino del placer, la belleza y la ruptura.

We arrived at Inhotim; friendly people and a lovely environment. We bought our entrance tickets, and two minutes later it was obvious that we would need, looking at the map of the place, two days to visit the place. Hence with pleasure we began our walk of pleasure, beauty, and fracture.

Este lugar cuenta con 97 hectáreas de reserva, en las que se ha desarrollado un jardín botánico y 17 galerías de arte, además de la exhibición al aire libre de esculturas. Las galerías y las obras se han trabajado de forma integrada con el espacio físico y natural, lo que hace que el recorrido sea interesante adentro, afuera, en las relaciones y en los detalles, es como si todo tuviera un sentido, una intensión.

Here are 97 hectares of reserve, in which are laid out the botanic garden and 17 art galleries, along with open air sculptures. The galleries and open air works are integrated into the physical and natural setting, which makes the visit interesting inside, outside, in relationships and in details, such that everything has a sense, an intention.

Las exhibiciones son un reto constante a la mente, la estética, la expresión y la capacidad del ser humano para hacer lo que quiere, cada vez que entramos a una galería algo de nuestro ser se sentía sorprendido y una mezcla de emociones se fundía con la experiencia haciéndola singular.

he exhibits are a constant challenge to the mind, to aesthetics, to expression, and the capacity of the human mind to achieve what it wants, every entry to a gallery something in our being was surprised, and a mixture of emotions arose, setting a singular experience.

Caminando en los senderos imposible no distraerse, un pájaro, una obra, una flor, el diseño de las palmeras, otro sendero, un lugar para descansar, un libro puesto en la banca para leer un poco, un café, un restaurante, una tienda, un punto para refrescarse o la sonrisa de una de las personas que allí trabaja dispuesta a ofrecer su ayuda en cualquier momento… así todos distraídos en corazón y mente.

Strolling on the paths it is impossible not to be distracted; a bird, a work, a flower, the form of the palms, another path, a book placed on a bench to read a little, a café, a restaurant, a shop, a place to refresh oneself, the smile of one of the people working there and disposed to offer help at any moment… all of these distract the heart and mind.

Al final de la visita una deliciosa sensación de expansión, plenitud, felicidad y potencia invadía nuestra existencia … un muy buen lugar para celebrar un cumpleaños.

After our visit a delicious sensation of expansion, fulfillment, happiness, and potential invaded our spirit… a wonderful place to celebrate a birthday.
