Valparaiso: con nubes perfecta!

Dejamos Viña del Mar después de un noche, de visitar el museo de antropología con una muestra informativa sobre las culturas indígenas Chilenas, incluyendo una sala especial sobre los Rapa Nui y de caminar por el Jardín Botánico Nacional.

We left Viña del Mar after one night, visiting the Anthropological Museum, where we found an informative exhibition of the indigenous cultures of Chile, including a special section on Easter Island, and then visiting the National Botanic Garden.

Llegamos al final de la tarde al Hotel en Cerro Alegre, pequeño, amable y rico para el descanso y dedicamos un buen rato a instalarnos. Luego cena, una pequeña caminata y a escribir al lado del fuego.

We arrived late afternoon at the hotel on Cerro Alegre, small, friendly, and a great place to relax, and then enjoyed some time installing ourselves. Later, dinner, a short walk, and writing by the fire.

Usamos nuestro día en la calle, caminamos por aquí y por allá,

saciando nuestra curiosidad y esa frecuente pregunta: ¿Qué se verá en esa esquina?. A diferencia de Viña, una ciudad para turistas, playas y gringos que buscan lo gringo en todas partes, Valparaiso tiene una identidad propia, una forma de existir particular, con sus casas estrechas, altas y ubicadas serpenteantes en el cerro. Si bien el ambiente de Lunes con cielo nublado, puede no ser el mejor para conocer esta ciudad y explotar su riqueza en el lente, si resulta muy conveniente para caminar subiendo y subiendo las cuestas que la conforman.

We spent next day in the streets, walking from here to there, satisfying our curiosity and the

frequent question "what's around this corner?". Distinct from Viña, a city for tourists, beaches and gringos seeking the gringo everywhere, Valparaiso has its own identity, and particular way of life, with its tall narrow houses snaking up the heights. If the cloudy Sunday wasn't ideal for appreciation of the city through the lens, it was most convenient for climbing and descending the steep streets and staircases.

Biblioteca municipal cerrada por recuperación después del terremoto, así que ni modo, a disfrutar lo disponible en la calle, de café en cafe.

The Municipal Library being closed for repairs after the earthquake, there was nothing else to do but enjoy the streets and the coffee in the cafes.
