Estábamos listos para ir a Viña del Mar, plan realizado y pensando en las opciones de hotel, entonces se nos ocurrió verificar la ruta y luego de los análisis correspondientes decidimos viajar a la Serena.We were ready to leave for Viña del Mar, plan prepared and thinking of hotel options, when it occurred to us to check the route. After the corresponding analysis we elected to head for La Serena.
Iniciamos nuestro trayecto por la ruta 60 para luego llegar a la maravillosa ruta 5 una autopista de 4 carrilles, amplia, bien señalizada y fluida. Así después de 5 horas de ruta llegábamos a en nuestro destino. El paisaje es verde, algunos cactus florecidos, pájaros, árboles y molinos de viento enriquecen la vista.
We started the route via route 60 later to arrive at the marvellous route 5, a four lane highway, wide, well-marked, and flowing. And so alter 5 hours we arrived at our destination. The countryside was green, with cactus in flower, birds, trees, and windmills enriching the scenery.
La serena es la segunda ciudad más antigua de Chile, su fundación estuvo promovida por la necesidad de recibir soporte del virreinato de perú en la colonización temprana. Hoy es una ciudad grande, su arquitectura predominante en el casco histórico es Republicana aunque se conservan algunas Iglesias más antiguas. No encontramos calles empedradas aunque si algunas fotografías de principios del siglo XX que muestran el empedrado existente.
La Serena is the second oldest city of Chile, its foundation driven by the need to receive support from the vice-regency of Peru during early colonial times. Today it is a large city, the predominant architecture in the historic centre being republican, although some older churches are preserved. We did not encounter any cobbled streets however various photographs from the early 20th Century showed their existence.
Hemos disfrutado los museos, las expresiones locales, el Café del Teatro, que tiene un expreso rico con galletita, periódico y caras amables y lo mejor pudimos comprar boletas para ver Les Luthiers la próxima semana!
We enjoyed the museums, local life, the Café del Teatro, which offers a good espresso with galletita, newspaper, and friendly faces, and the best thing was that we were able to buy tickets for Les Luthiers the following week!
