Salimos hacia Argentina con la idea de llegar a Concordia. Nuevamente las ondulaciones suaves dominaron el paisaje hasta que llegamos a la Cuchilla Grande Inferior, en donde la inclinación de la ruta subió más o menos 1 grado.
Por esta ruta 3 vieja, llegamos a la gruta del palacio, un afloramiento rocoso ferrificado que sirvió de resguardo para indígenas, rebeldes y ahora zorros. Es un Parque protegido por la intendencia municipal y está rodeado de árboles y pájaros que hacen la visita realmente refrescante.Seguimos hacia la frontera, tramites dentro del carro y súbitamente la velocidad promedio de los conductores se incremento y los comportamientos menos seguros se hicieron presentes, nuevamente las reglas argentinas se imponían.
We continued to the border, handled the formalities from the car, and immediately the average speed of the drivers rose markedly, as did the frequency of their unsafe behaviour, once again Argentina road rules.
Dado la hora, decidimos dormir en Colón, decisión con grandes beneficios para el día siguiente, aunque la noche hubiera sido una pesadilla (mosquitos y otros demonios).
Given the hour, we decided to sleep in Colón, a decision with great benefits in the following day, albeit that the night was a nightmare of mosquitoes and other demons.
Colón es un lugar ribereño con calles predominantemente en tierra y viviendas grandes y aireadas. Dedicado al turismo y receptor de muchos visitantes de regiones periféricas, encontramos un Hotel pintoresco y un restaurante rico para saciar el hambre.
Colón is a river town with most streets unsurfaced, and with large and airy buildings. It is focussed on tourism and receives visitors from the surrounding regions; we found a picturesque hotel and a good restaurant to sate our hunger.
Al día siguiente, a pesar de haber planeado llegar a corrientes, las condiciones físicas de los conductores indicaban con alguna fuerza que eso no ocurriría así que decidimos evaluar en cada lugar nuestras capacidades y en el primero 168 km más al norte nos quedamos a dormir.
The following day, despite having planned to reach Corrientes, our physical condition and tjhe other drivers on the highway implied with some force that this was not going to happen and so we continued, evaluating things at every turn, and after 168 Km further north stopped for the night.
En el camino visitamos el Parque Natural Los Palmares y allí gastamos casi todo nuestro tiempo. En este lugar se conservan bosques de Palma con sus ecosistemas de pastizales y bosques bajos inundables. Esta palmera ocupaba toda la región en tierras de Paraguay, Argentina y Brasil, ahora solo queda esta área y pequeños segmentos en áreas privadas. El Parque está bien señalizado con varios senderos para caminar y varios miradores para apreciar los diferentes ecosistemas. Encontramos pocas personas y pudimos disfrutar los detalles de cada ambiente. El entorno silencioso, más fresco que cálido y los pájaros fueron un escenario apropiado para soltar la tensión y el cansancio.
On the way we visited the Natural Park of the Palms and their spent most of our time. In this park are conserved Palm forests in the savanna ecosystem. This palm occupied most of the region in what are now parts of Argentina, Paraguay, and Brazil, however the palm now survives only in this park and in a few private lands. The park is well signposted with various walking trails and various viewpoints for the sub-ecosystems. We met few people and could enjoy each different environment. The tranquil setting, more fresh than hot, and the birdlife, set a scene in which we could relax and relieve tension.
Llegamos a Concordia vimos lo que había para ver, recorrimos las exhibiciones artesanales correspondientes y buscamos finalizar el día para descansar.
We arrived in Concordia, saw what there is to see, visited the appropriate art and artesania exhibitions, and so to rest.
