Cordoba

Cordoba is the second city of Argentina, and feels like it. The centre has a network of pedestrian streets, and is full of people throughout the day. It was for a long time more important than Buenos Aires, and retains a strong sense of identity as a historic centre; the University was established in 1621, after a period as a Jesuit College founded in 1610, and is one of the oldest in the Americas.

Córdoba es la segunda ciudad de Argentina, y se siente así. El centro cuenta con una red de calles peatonales, y está llena de gente durante todo el día. Fue por mucho tiempo más importante que Buenos Aires y conserva un fuerte sentido de identidad como centro histórico. La Universidad fue fundada en 1621, después de un período como un colegio de los jesuitas, fundado en 1610, y es una de las más antiguas de las Américas.

We visited the “Manzana Jesuitica”, established in 1599, which includes the Jesuit Cathedral and a Domestic Chapel, the Jesuit Library, the Montserrat School, and the University. Although access to these is somewhat limited, it was interesting to tour the areas accessible, and also to see a temporary exhibition of maps dating from the 1500s to the last century.

Visitamos la "Manzana Jesuítica", establecida en 1599, que incluye la Catedral de los jesuitas y una Capilla Doméstica, la Biblioteca de los jesuitas, el Colegio Monserrat, y la Universidad. Aunque el acceso a ellos es algo limitado, fue interesante recorrer las zonas accesibles y también ver una exposición temporal de mapas que datan de los años 1500 hasta el siglo pasado.

The streets are bordered with flowering trees: purple, yellow, and pink, which provide a pleasant atmosphere. Taking advantage of the pedestrian streets and cafes we enjoyed our stay in Cordoba.
