We climbed out of Cochabamba, once again into the high country, then passed over the cordillera and began the tortuous descent into the Tropical Forest.Salimos de Cochabamba y ascendimos una vez más a las tierras altas, luego pasamos sobre la cordillera e iniciamos un tortuoso descenso dentro de la selva tropical.
The mountain forest is beautiful, tall verdant tree canopy with flowering trees frequent in the rich greens. The sections of road which are broken by faulting in the mountains have been surfaced using cobbles, which can handle the movement, and apply an old technique to new roads very well. 
La selva de montaña es hermosa, copas de arboles verdes y altos con frecuentes arboles en flor en el valle. Las secciones de la vía que se han dañado por fallas geológicas hab sido reparadas con piedra de río, usando las técnicas tradicionales de empedrado, al parecer pueden soportar mejor el movimiento.
We made our way down to the river valley and on to Villa Tunari, which is a key junction between the main Cochabamba-Sant aCruz highway and the Amazon basin. We enjoyed a great Surubi lunch at Dona Martha, before heading east towards Santa Cruz.
The truck traffic on the highway is surprising, we counted 170 trucks in 108Km(!).
