En Samaipata

Having left Santa Cruz we passed through attractive scenery, climbing into the hills. The views would have been even better had the atmosphere not been smoky, from the fires blazing to the north east of the department. On either side of the road were flowering trees, in red, yellow, and dark orange, and we passed through a river valley while ascending.

Después de haber salido de Santa Cruz pasamos por paisajes atractivos, subiendo a los cerros. El paisaje habría sido aún mejor si la atmósfera no estuviera llena de humo, producto de los incendios al noreste del departamento. A ambos lados de la carretera había árboles en flor, de color rojo, amarillo y naranja oscuro, y pasamos a través del valle del río mientras ascendíamos.

De vez en cuando el camino era compartida con varios animales, aqui un ejemplo.

Prior to reaching Samaipata, a sign indicates a track leading up to El Fuerte, the Inca temple and fortress high above the valley. We climbed for half an hour and approached the summit of the mountain, where we continued on foot to a series of viewing stages above the rocky eminence which has been carved into steps, platforms, niches, and an as yet unexplained temple layout. It was pleasant to visit at the end of the day, since the site was almost deserted, except for two other visitors, and a high wind.

Antes de llegar a Samaipata, una senal indica la via a El Fuerte, un fortaleza y templo Inca muy por encima del valle. Subimos por media hora y muy cerca de la cima de la montaña, donde continuamos a pie a traves de un sendero por una serie de miradores que premiten apreciar por encima la eminencia rocosa que ha sido tallada en escalones, plataformas, nichos y un diseño del templo aún sin explicación. Fue agradable hacer la visita al final del día, ya que el lugar estaba casi desierto, excepto por otros dos visitantes, y un fuerte viento.

After exploring the viewing points, the ruins around the “fort” and the plaza below, we returned to the main road to continue to the village of Samaipata, where we stayed at La Vispera, run by a Dutch couple, and a tranquil spot to spend the night.

Después de explorar los miradores, las ruinas alrededor de la fortaleza y la plaza de abajo, volvimos a la carretera principal para continuar hasta el pueblo de Samaipata, donde nos quedamos en La Víspera, un lugar dirigido por una pareja neerlandesa, muy tranquilo para pasar la noche.
