The route to Karajía can be divided into four sections: first the section from the highway to Chachapoyas, to Luya, this is an “improved¨road, unsurfaced, but with graded gravel, and steeply climbs out of the river valley, average speed 50 Km/h. Then the section from Luya to Cohechan, also unsurfaced, smooth dirt track, narrower, with curves and ascents equally steep, average speed 30 Km/h. Then from Cohechan to Cruz Pata, a more independently-minded road, it includes its own mountains, rivers, and valleys, and continues to climb and bend at the same rate, average speed 15 Km/h. Finally, after 2-1/2 hours of ascent, we left the car and walked for 20 minutes (steeply downhill) to arrive at the sarcophagi of Karajía.
Here are the photos, with which we open a competition: what is the size of these sarcophagi? The winner will receive a prize. Closing date for the answers: 2010 July 27. Terms of the competition: provide your estimate of the height of the sarcophagi in centimetres, by comment to this blog, or email to one of our email addresses.

P.D. Este no es un sarcófago. Es un toro coqueto que nos encontramos al regreso.
P.S. This is not a Sarcophagus. It is a bull flirting with us on the way back.
The sarcophagi are very cool. My guess is 215cm. PS. Love the bull.
