Piura is a city taken over by cars, or more accurately, mototaxis, which make the traffic chaotic and deafening.
Seeking the cultural heritage of Piura proved difficult, given that it is the oldest Spanish city in Peru, there is little effort to protect the historic centre (witness the example in the photo). The best evidence is visible in the Vicus Museum, which is limited but has good examples of pre-Columbian art (as in the jar shown).
Para completar nuestro día visitamos Catacaos un pueblo artesanal cercano a Piura, en el que se hacen esculturas en
Filigrana (ver el toro de la foto) y además de eso venden muchas cositas al estilo Ráquira en Colombia. Lo mejor de esta visita fue aprender a pelar naranjas con el aparato del señor, en la foto la evidencia de mi disfrute ... y del disfrute de mis observadores.To complete the day, we visited Catacaos, a small town with aspirations to compete with Blackpool in the souvenir stakes.
