Hoy salimos de la eminente ciudad de Cuenca (El hotel Mansión Alcazar y la delicia de su cocina, justifica cualquier viaje y representó el 95% de nuestro disfrute de la ciudad.) y tomamos la ruta 35 (En algunos tramos parece ser la E59) hacia Loja, con
alguna incertidumbre sobre el valor colonial de nuestro destino. En nuestra revisión diaria del vehículo encontramos una puntilla en la llanta posterior derecha, así reportamos oficialmente nuestra primera pinchada, la cual puedo resolverse satisfactoriamente en la vulcanizadora las Nieves.
Today we left the eminent city of Cuenca (the hotel Mansion Alcazar, and its delicious cuisine, representing 95% of the value of any visit to Cuenca). We headed south on route 35 )or according to some indications E59) towards Loja, with some trepidation regarding the "colonial value" of the decision. In our daily vehicle inspection we found a nail in the right rear tyre and hence spent the first part of the trip at the "Las Nieves" ("The Snows") tyre repair shop. We hence have to report our first puncture of the trip.
La ruta está en excelente estado y tiene un paisaje maravilloso, el trafico es bajo y la señalización esta muy buen, durante las dos primeras horas el día fue soleado, seco y fluido, en las dos siguientes horas estuvimos invadidos por los fluidos (tal como lo dejan ver las fotos).
The road is in excellent condition, well marked, with marvellous scenery, and little traffic, and our first two hours journey were sunny, dry, and flowing; our second two hours were also flowing, however in the sense of torrential rain, as can be seen in the photos.
Nuestra primera ronda por las calles de Loja, reveló la conservación de algunas casas coloniales, diferentes a las observadas en otros lugares. Así que para mañana la agenda está llena.
Our first sally into the streets of Loja reveal a level of conservation of colonial buildings significantly different from other places so far. We will be spending more time tomorrow on this.
En la Casa del Sol, restaurante de comida típica, encontramos nuevas empanadas y aji: empanadas de yuca con queso y ají de pepas de zambo, ambos deliciosos.
In the Casa del Sol, a restaurant specialising in local food, we encountered new empanadas (new to us) and hot sauce: empanadas of yucca and cheese, and hot sauce made from a local version of Colombian "bolo" (if not familiar with either, look them up in Google...)
